The River

Mon Feb 23, 2009, 11:56 AM
"There is a river flowing very fast. It is so great and swift that there are those who will be afraid. They will try to hold on to the shore. They will feel that they are being torn apart and will suffer greatly.

Know that this river has its destination.

The elders say we must let go of the shore, push off into the middle of the river, keep our eyes open, and our heads above the water. And I say, see who is there with you and celebrate!

At this time in history, we are to take nothing personally, least of all, ourselves. For the moment that we do, our spiritual journey and growth come to a halt.

The time of the lone wolf is over. Gather yourselves! Banish the word 'struggle' from your attitude and vocabulary. All that we do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration.

We are the ones we have been waiting for."

-Hopi Elders, often quoted by Ian Xel Lungold

tremendous trip: New Orleans, Navajo, & Hopi

Tue Aug 23, 2005, 12:48 PM
This trip dramatically changed my life ambition and value system... 3 causes: I witnessed the plight and power of the Hopi and Dine, met a family preparing for the worst, and explored New Orleans, only 1 month before the world watched the worst happen there.

In July (2005), I spent a week in New Orleans and then, for the second stage of an enlightening journey, one week in Arizona. New Orleans is elegant, dirty, ancient, and strangely revitalizing! I had such good food, good friends, gazed at gorgeous art, and listened to amazing music! It is difficult to describe... just... absolutely magical. I had the best times wandering around The French Quarter alone, taking photographs and going wherever Spirit led me. In Arizona, the Hopi and Navajo reservations are filled with pure love, painful realities, radiant beauty, and refreshing wisdom. I travelled with the perfect group of friends. I am so grateful that these wonderful people came into my life!
